Your credit report says a lot about you. Every credit account, every loan, every financial relationship you've ever had is reflected in your credit report.  Every new financial relationship you want to get into — whether it's applying for a mortgage, an auto loan, or a credit card — will hinge upon your credit rating.  The better your credit history, the better your chances of getting the credit you want and the interest rates you want.

Your credit report is also your best defense against identity theft. So it's wise to run your own credit report every year. It's one way to know if there are any financial errors in your name. More important, you'll know if anyone is trying to get credit at your expense.

On November 17th, 2009 Industrial Federal Credit Union was nationally recognized with Honorable Mention for the $100 million to $200 million asset size category Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award.

Back in September, the Indiana Credit Union League awarded IFCU as the first-place winner in Indiana in the Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) Dora Maxwell Award Program (for the $100 million to $200 million asset category). 

The annual Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award recognizes and promotes credit unions’ social responsibility efforts within the communities they serve. Credit unions enter the program in separate asset categories, which allows them to compete fairly against credit unions of equal size and resources. IFCU won the award for its continuing effort and support of IFCU Community Harvest, which benefits Food Finders Food Bank. This annual community-wide event brings together local businesses, schools, churches and citizens through a series of food drives and fundraisers all benefiting Food Finders Food Bank.  Since its inception nearly 20 years ago, the massive collaborative efforts of Community Harvest have provided mid-north Indiana with record amounts of food and funds to help feed the hungry in our communities.

The continued success of IFCU Community Harvest each year is due in large to the generous response and support from IFCU’s members and all of the various businesses, organizations, and members of our community.  Thank you for your help and we hope that you will help us continue making the IFCU Community Harvest such a great success as we get ready to kick-off this year’s event on October 10th, 2009.
