A new phishing scheme asks the financial institution's members, via e-mail, to verify their phone number immediately with the financial institution. If they do not confirm their phone number, their account will be suspended.
If you believe you have given personal information to an illegitimate source, you should contact the credit reporting agency immediately and monitor your credit files and account statements closely. If anyone saying they are with a financial institution calls and requests your card number, hang up and call the phone number on the back of the card. If the call was legitimate, the credit card provider will have knowledge of it.
